The 3/4 oz 2017 Canadian Wolf Moon Silver Coin by the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates two beautiful spectacles of the great white North, the wolf howling at the midnight moon. Despite having been on the verge of extinction in recent years, the grey wolf (canis lupus lupus) is once again visible in much of it's original habitat and has been classified as "LC" or "Least Concern" by the IUCN.

The Grey Wolf is the largest extant member of it's family, averaging 43 - 45 kg in males and 36 - 38.5 kg in females. It has less pointed features than other wolves and is one of the world's best researched and well known animals. At 0.75 troy ounces, this uncommonly sized coin pays to tribute to one of natures most unique, social hunters.

The obverse features the Susanna Blunt effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words "Elizabeth II 2 Dollars 2017", the artist's initials and the new radial lines design also used in silver maple leaf coins by the Royal Canadian Mint. The reverse boasts both 9999 purity and a wolf howling with a close up portrait of the moon set as the background.
